The landscape within Renegades of Wrestling changed dramatically at ‘We Are Renegades’, in front of a packed and rowdy Northcote Theatre on March 9th, with both singles championships changing hands for the first time ever in the three year history of the company!
In the main event, the 723 day reign of Aysha came to a close, as Indi Hartwell defeated her to become the new ROW Women’s Champion in her return to the independent wrestling scene! Aysha competed at a First Class calibre, as we’ve come to expect during her dominant run as the longest consistently defending champion in the modern era of Australian wrestling, but it was not to be, with Hartwell securing an Impressive win.
But it was not the only title change on the night, with Mitch Waterman finally putting an end to months of controversy, defeating Levi Nixon to lift the ROW World Championship. Nixon was out to retain the championship by any means necessary, particularly in the absence of former champion Emman Azman, but it was the beginning of the end for Levi when his attempt to take a count-out victory was thwarted by Azman’s Ambush stablemates, ROW Tag Team Champions Jarvis & Murdoch.
As we’ve seen in the past, Mitch Waterman would then serve as executioner, taking Nixon’s head off to secure the win, becoming the first ever two time Renegades of Wrestling World Champion in the process!
Elsewhere on the event, we saw Lochy Hendricks win the Renegades Rumble, which secures him an ROW World Championship match at any time of his choosing, with shocking assistance from Hector Jones. The Bastard Brothers also defeated JXT & Fun Time Phil in a table filled no disqualifcation match, which puts them into contendership for the ROW Tag Team Championships, currently held by the Ambush, who won a spectacular triple threat non-title tag team match on the night as well.
We also saw Caveman Ugg defeat Mitch Connors in a match which had the Northcote Theatre faithful chanting “this is awesome” at various stages of the match, and the grudge match between Mr Juicy & Tyson Reed never got underway, as Tyson & Chloe attacked Juicy with a brick during his entrance!
