The official definition of the word “Renegade” is as follows: A person or persons that behaves in a rebelliously unconventional manner. The literal interpretation of this term naturally evokes several associations in one’s mind; particularly in Australia, where the renegade spirit is part of the nation’s DNA. Similarly, the business of professional wrestling is by its very nature unconventional and rebellious, with iconic trailblazers and pioneers of the sport living in the minds of fans long after the final bell has rung.
It is fitting then, that a wrestling promotion from Australia would adopt a moniker like Renegade with such pride. From the shared vision of a collective group of passionate individuals both inside and outside the ring, something truly special has formed. A space where the rebellious and unconventional can celebrate that which drives them. A debut event where a prodigal son returns after an absence far too long. A date that will go down in history as the beginning of a new era in professional wrestling.
This Saturday April 30th, Fans, performers, and the entire pro wrestling community of Australia will eschew their rebellious nature for a moment of unity; to come together and proudly proclaim that We Are Renegades!
Caity Luxe vs. Tarlee
Despite ROW being in its infancy, the level of talent that have declared themselves “Renegades” is truly astounding. Among these incredible athletes are two dominant figures in the Australian women’s wrestling scene that have climbed to the top of the division in various promotions.
Caity Luxe declares herself as “The Bhaddest”; a nickname that suitably conveys her tenacity and willingness to get the job done, no matter what. These traits will certainly need to be harnessed when Luxe finds herself across the ring from the powerhouse known simply as Tarlee!
With this being the inaugural show for ROW the spotlight, and pressure, is on both women to establish themselves as pillars of the company.
Will Tarlee make Luxe’s debut a living nightmare? Or will Caity make this “The Bhaddest” night Tarlee’s career?
The Velocities vs. Robbie Eagles & Emman the Kid (The Golden Eagles)
In what is sure to be an instant classic, four of the country’s best high flyers touch down in Collingwood on Saturday night for a tag team bout that may be a once-in-a-lifetime matchup.
In one corner, seasoned duo The Velocities will be competing on home turf for the last time before heading out to test their mettle in The UK. On the other side of the ring are two men who have travelled the globe in tights and trunks, but call Australia their home; Current NJPW sensation Robbie Eagles and wrestling prodigy Emman the Kid!
Calling themselves “The Golden Eagles”, Robbie and Emman’s similar styles are sure to deliver a devastating collective combination of offense against Paris and Jude. But The Velocities are far from strangers to the art of aerial combat, and possess much more experience as a team.
Will the natural chemistry between The Kid and Eagles result in two more fallen targets of “The Sniper(s) of the Skies”? Or will The Velocities’ winning formula prove too powerful to overcome?
Lochy Hendricks Tells All
Promos. Pipebombs. Shoots. When a microphone is in the hands of an athlete inside the squared circle, audience attention is immediately focused in on what will come out of that athlete’s mouth.
Some fight to keep this attention. A selective few are able to hold it for as long as they speak. And then there are those who are in a class all of their own; who not just hold, but demand and command an entire crowd effortlessly.
Lochy Hendricks has arguably made it into this upper echelon of those with a gift for the gab; particularly when the last year has been as tumultuous and riddled with unknowns in the eyes of wrestling fans wanting to hear what Hendricks has to say. Cryptic messages have abounded across social media, and Lochy will have a live mic this Saturday to address those in attendance. What will ROW hear from the verbal virtuoso, and what ramification will it have on the Australian Wrestling Scene?
Murdoch vs Rat Daddy vs Mat Diamond
A late but incredibly welcome addition to the debut card of Renegades of Wrestling sees three familiar fighters with a lot to prove.
Known simply as Murdoch, this young talent has an infectiously positive vibe and passion that makes it impossible for him not to become “Ya Boi”.
Hailing from Adelaide, Rat Daddy dons a thick fur coat that transforms his figure into one closely resembling his namesake, matched only by the metaphorical shrouds of mystery this psychological bandit wraps himself in.
The final dance partner of this triple threat is a wrestler’s whose future shines as bright as his name would imply: “The Diamond Standard” Mat Diamond!
ROW is a company that plans on being on the scene for the foreseeable future, and therefore an investment in the future must be made immediately in order to pay dividends. With these three young renegades fired up and ready to prove themselves players in the game, stakes could not be higher. Will Murdoch show the world that “Ya Boi” is The Man? Will Rat Daddy burrow himself into the minds of wrestling fans? Or will Mat Diamond show everyone what the future standard of this business truly is?
Tommy Knight will Compete
Renegades come in all shapes and sizes. For Tommy Knight, the rebellious nature of a Renegades comes in eschewing the modern prototype of a professional wrestler. Knight’s move set, demeanour, and physical presence hearkens back to the “golden age” of wrestling; where a performer’s prowess was measured in toughness and grit.
An athlete like Tommy Knight is a perfect fit for a promotion like ROW, and the old school grappler will be rewarded this Saturday with a showcase against a yet to be determined opponent!
Lena Kross vs. Aysha
The second of two exciting matchups in the ROW Women’s Division will be a clash of youth vs experience when veteran Lena Kross takes on Aysha!
Despite a noticeable size difference between the two competitors, Aysha’s attitude more than makes up for any discrepancy. Dubbing herself “The First Class Bi*tch”, the newcomer has yet to back down from a conflict, and is not shy in her distain for those she shares a locker room with.
On the other side of the coin, Lena Kross is looking to make 2022 her breakout year, and a win on the night of such as historic event would undoubtedly provide suitable momentum to achieve this goal.
Will Lena be able to “Kross Off” Aysha from her list of opponents? Or will Aysha teach her opponent that life’s a….”
JONAH vs Caveman Ugg
There is electricity in the air. A reverberation runs across the city. Waves violently crash against the coast, regardless of the moon’s cycle. Heat rises. A symphony of terrified shrieks and cries of joy swell to a crescendo. With his hunger satisfied overseas for the time being, “The King of the Monsters” JONAH is coming home!
JONAH’s accolades need not be explained to even the most casual of wrestling fan. With championships won in major promotions and appearances in practically every notable company, The King’s reign has been enchanting, exciting, and explosive. A who’s who of beasts have been slain across all corners of the planet, and JONAH still has fire in his belly.
But fire is something familiar to JONAH’s challenger. Having discovered it, tamed it, and honed it as a tool, this man believes that The King’s time has come to an end. A new era, one that could be looked upon as a throwback, is threatening to emerge. For as many monsters lay at The King’s feet, He has yet to conquer “The Jurassic Juggernaut”: Caveman Ugg!
A more perfect opponent could not have been picked for JONAH’s return. Similar in size, packing equal power, and capturing the love of renegades around the world, this clash of super heavyweights is a worthy main event for a night of such magnitude.
Every strike will be felt. Every slam will echo throughout Collingwood. And when the dust settles, will the clock reset to a time when Cavemen ruled the earth? Or will The King sit upon his throne, elevated by the bones of another slain monster?
